The ranking multiplier
Paying does change reach, by a published amount, inside the same formula everyone gets. Here is exactly what it does and what it cannot do.
Most platforms will not answer this question. Surf answers it here rather than claiming there is nothing to answer.

What it does
It multiplies the score of your own posts and replies inside the ranking formula described at How ranking works. A better-scoring post is more likely to be shown, and to be shown higher.
What it cannot do
- It cannot override a setting a reader chose. Their sliders, rules and topic preferences still apply in full.
- It cannot pass a hard filter. Mutes, blocks, network scope and not-interested are filters, not weights, so no multiplier can outbid them.
- It cannot be aimed. There is no way to promote one specific post, and no purchasable placement of any kind.
- It does not apply to anyone else's posts, and it does not suppress them.
Why it exists
The business is subscriptions rather than attention. That is the honest trade: the alternative to a disclosed multiplier is an advertising system, and Surf does not have one.
