Stories
A photo or clip that expires after 24 hours, shown to everyone, to close friends, or to a group you define.
A story is one photo or one clip. It expires 24 hours after posting. Each segment plays for about 15 seconds unless it is a longer clip.
Audience
- Everyone
- Your followers, or the public if your account is not private.
- Close friends
- A single list you maintain in Settings, under Friends and Groups.
- Story groups
- Custom audiences you name yourself, for example Work or Family.
The audience is chosen per story, so the same list can carry a private story today and nothing tomorrow.
Highlights
A story kept as a highlight stays on your profile after the 24 hours are up and remains viewable to the audience it was posted to.
Who saw it
The viewer list is yours while the story is live. Story rewatch analytics, on Sapphire Pro and above, additionally show which stories people went back to.
Screenshots of a story are surfaced to the author in direct-message contexts. Treat a story as visible, not as private.
